Need some inspiration for summer drinks? Look no further than this post. I’ve created the perfect line up for summer cocktails that are all seriously SO EASY. Like, two or three ingredients easy. It can’t get much better than this!
All three of these cocktails feature beer, but the term “beer” is used pretty loosely in this post. The beers used are light, bubbly, and refreshing: perfect for a summer drink. Even if you don’t like beer, you’ll like these drinks. Give the beer cocktails a try! Keep reading for each recipe.
First, the classic Gin and Juice
I love making a Gin and Juice with Stiegl Radler. It is so refreshing with the perfect hint of grapefruit. Mixed with a little gin of your choosing, and this drink is made for easy sippin’ on the patio.
Gin and Juice
- 1 oz gin of your choosing (We used Seagram’s Extra Dry)
- 1 can Stiegl Radler
- Grapefruit for garnish (optional)
Pour 1 oz gin (or more to taste) in the bottom of a teku glass. Fill to the top with Stiegl Radler. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
See, I told you this would be easy!!
Next up, a Sweet and Tart Shandy
Isn’t this drink so pretty?! I love the idea of using Framboise for a shandy. Lindeman’s Framboise Lambic is a raspberry flavored, slightly tart beer. The pink lemonade balances the Framboise’s heavy flavor perfectly. Need to impress your guests with a sophisticated take on a classic beer drink? Give this a try.
Sweet and Tart Shandy
- 12 oz Lindeman’s Framboise Lambic
- 3 oz Pink Lemonade (we used Minute Maid Light)
- Lemon for garnish (optional)
Pour 12 oz of Lindeman’s Framboise Lambic into a tall glass. Top with Pink Lemonade to taste. Add a lemon slice, or even squeeze a little fresh lemon juice into your yummy shandy!
Third, a “Texas” Mule
The Texas version of the typical Moscow Mule might be one of my favorite beer cocktails of all time. It’s light, fruity, and slightly spicy due to the ginger beer. This version is made “Texan” due to the grapefruit vodka. Yum!
- 2 oz Deep Eddy Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka
- 8 oz Gosling’s Ginger Beer
- Lime – not optional. Double lime is encouraged.
Pour 2 oz of vodka into a shaker filled with ice. Shake gently for a few seconds. Pour into a mug. Top with more ice and 8 oz of ginger beer. Squeeze lime juice to taste. Top with a lime wedge.
Since the above drink uses Gosling’s Ginger Beer, I couldn’t go without mentioning a Dark and Stormy. So, now you’ve got a bonus drink to add to your very expansive repertoire of beer cocktails. If you thought the first three were simple, get ready, because I’ve got a two-ingredient drink coming at ya.
(Me being excited about my rum float) 🙂
This drink is also a little spicy due to the ginger, but the dark rum really smooths it out. I’m not usually a dark-liquior person, but Gosling’s dark rum is very complementary to the ginger beer.
Dark and Stormy
- 8 oz Gosling’s Ginger Beer
- 1 oz Gosling’s Black Rum
Pour 8 oz of Ginger Beer into a martini glass (we couldn’t find ours, so we used a margarita glass… hey! It’s summer after all!) Then, top the ginger beer with a rum float. To do this, slowly pour the rum into the top of the drink so it doesn’t mix and sort of “floats” on top. We got fancy and added a lime wedge, but you don’t have to.
So, I hope you’ve enjoyed my list of beer cocktails you’ll want all summer! Not only did you get three yummy new drinks to try, but you also got a fourth bonus drink just because I’m nice like that.
I hope you enjoy, and always drink responsibly.
