DIY Your Christmas Village
I don’t often share home decor/DIY tips, but when I do it’s because I absolutely LOVE the way a little project of mine turned out. That is definitely the case today, because I’m going to show you how I upgraded an old Christmas Village to fit my Christmas decor! Just three easy steps to transform something old, to something new!
My grandma passed down a few of these Christmas Village pieces to me, and although I love the original colors, it doesn’t fit with my Christmas theme of mostly white, green, and metallic colors. So, I thought I would try painting them to match! The result was surprisingly super cute and easy. Keep scrolling to see how I transformed my Christmas Village!
Step 1: I used almost an entire can of the Krylon primer to cover the three village pieces. It needed several coats to cover completely. Be sure to make each coat thin and light so it dries without bubbles or running! I chose a primer spray paint because I think it covers better than regular spray paint.
Step 2: After about 4 or 5 coats of primer, I went through and added two coats of silver spray glitter. This step is definitely optional, but I had it in my craft drawer already and it added a punch of holiday glam to my upgraded Christmas Village!
Step 3: Last but not least, I added a clear acrylic coating. This helped seal everything in and gave it a professional finish!
