As Summer Comes to a Close
I have to admit that I’m a little down because summer is almost over. It is my favorite season for many reasons, but mostly I just love the chance to be laying in the pool while reading a great book. County fairs, fireworks, and my birthday are all summer activities I cherish. I also enjoy grilling out, warm nights, and fireflies. So you can’t blame me for being a little bit sad that all of those things are about to end!
This summer in particular was a fantastic one, and I’ve had the privilege to travel a lot and see so many things. For today’s blog post, I thought I’d relive a few of my favorite moments, and share what I’m looking forward to most in the months to come.
A Summer of Travel
To begin the summer, Drew and I took a weeklong road trip to the southern U.S. Our first stop was Savannah, GA. I was in awe of the tall, old, mossy trees. It is such a walkable city, we just loved wondering the streets with a beer in hand (Savannah has an open container policy!). To see more of my day in Savannah, be sure to check out this post!
Charleston, SC was our next stop, and it really was a beautiful city. It reminded me of something you might see in the Mediterranean, with the little streets and brightly colored houses. While visiting, we spent a day at the beach and had some of the best seafood ever. In Charleston, it’s almost like walking back in time. Everyone wears white!
Asheville, NC was our favorite stop and it was our last stop. Asheville is a beer-centric city, with breweries on almost every corner! The weather was the best out of the three places we visited and it stays that mild year round. I was truly inspired by the city of Asheville, from the people to the buildings. Overall, this road trip was simply fantastic!
In July, we made about five trips to Chicago. We attended a wedding, went to a Cubs game, and more! But my favorite trip to Chicago this summer was for my birthday. We spent the afternoon on North Avenue Beach and then saw Hamilton the Musical that evening. Drew had the tickets for this for months! It was just as amazing as I imagined and I really count myself lucky to have watched it.
To end the summer, we spent a week in Saint Petersburg, Florida. This is our second time in the area this year, and it is now one of our favorite spots. We had an amazing time laying on the beach during the day and exploring the surrounding areas at night! Be sure to check out my guide for the best things to do in Saint Petersburg.
I’m going to try to be as positive as possible even though I never want this summer to end! Luckily, I’ve got so many things that I can look forward to in the coming months. Even though I love the summer season, fall is my next favorite. I love fall activities like pumpkin picking and Halloween. There are also some exciting things coming soon to Brewing Up Style!
New collaborations are headed your way! You know that I choose which companies to work with very carefully and you’re going to love what’s coming next. I don’t want to give away too many details just yet, but let’s just say that I’m looking forward to incorporating more craft beer in new and creative ways! I’ll also be working with some of my favorite small businesses. So stay tuned!
Fall style gets everyone excited, so I’ll be sharing some creative ways to wear those classic fall pieces like booties, sweaters, and more. Location will also play a huge factor in upcoming blog posts, as I’ve got some places scouted that will produce the most amazing fall colors.
