What a Week!
I could have taken this week’s fashion post in a totally different direction. I’ve got several posts that I just can’t wait to share with you! Summer dresses, skirts, swimwear, and more are all coming soon. But, I want my blog to be a platform that is real. I want my blog to reflect who I am. I also want to be completely honest.
This week, I’m just not “feeling it.”
Every time I’ve had the chance to go somewhere this week, I’ve decided to stay in and binge watch Netflix instead (The Keepers or Master of None anyone?!?!). I haven’t wanted to curl my hair or do my makeup. It was really just back to basics this week. Am I the only one that goes through phases like this?
So, in order to keep it real, my post this week is really a reflection of what I’ve been wearing. A true, honest, reflection. Although I always share outfits I’m currently wearing, they are usually the best of the best. This week, it’s all about my go-tos for casual style.
Good Basics Save The Day
I love a good t-shirt-and-jeans combo. I found this Dinosaur t-shirt at TopShop and just couldn’t resist. There’s something about it that reminds me of souvenir shirts you get on vacation. It makes me laugh! I’ve been wearing this shirt all week as I relax. It is soft just like a vintage tee should be.
I’ve had these black skinny jeans from the Gap for a while and every time I wear them, I’m amazed that they don’t stretch out throughout the day. I confess that I even wore the jeans and the Birkenstocks to work this week with a button up. My work is pretty casual, but even for me that’s pretty dressed down.
Let’s talk about Birkenstocks for a second. I feel like I’m the last one to jump on this bandwagon, but if you’ve still never tried them, they really are as good as everyone says. They mold to your feet and have great support. They have such a wide variety of colors and styles now too. You can find mine at Zappos.
I put the tee, jeans, and Birkenstocks together when I finally decided to go out to dinner with friends one night. I’m serious when I say that I was just not in the mood to put a lot of thought into what I was wearing this week. Luckily, I have great quality basics like these in my closet that make getting dressed easy when I really don’t feel like thinking about it.
Casual style may be one of my favorite topics to write about just because it can be so versatile. Especially when that’s all I wear some weeks! So, even though this week’s post wasn’t exciting or adventurous, it was real. It was truly me.
Does anyone else ever just need to take a break? How do you get back on track?
